How to use it

Tips for a good photo

A clear photo gives a more accurate answer.

  • Use natural daylight. Avoid deep shade and camera flash.
  • Fill the frame with one affected part (leaf, stem, root or fruit).
  • Hold steady so the spots and edges are sharp.
  • Show both the damaged area and a little healthy tissue next to it.
  • Add the crop name if you know it (maize, cassava, tomato...).

Guidance, not a lab test. When Crop Check is not sure, it says so and suggests showing the crop to your local agriculture officer.

Good to know

Questions farmers ask

Can it help before my crop gets sick?

Yes. Choose "Get advice" and photograph a healthy crop or your field. You get early-warning risks to watch for, what to do this week, and low-cost ways to grow a better harvest, like advice from an agronomist.

Can it check a chemical before I spray?

Yes. Choose "Chemical" and photograph the label of the pack or bottle. You get what it is for, whether it suits your crop, the best time to spray, protective gear, safety steps and first aid. It only reads what is printed, so always follow the label itself.

Is Crop Check free?

Yes. Create an account and scan as many crops as you need. No card is required.

How accurate is it?

Every result shows how confident the AI is. Clear, close photos work best. If the result is uncertain, we tell you and suggest seeing an agriculture officer.

Is my information private?

Your scans are visible only to you. Only serious, high-confidence diagnoses are shared as anonymous outbreak reports, with no name and a location rounded to about 1 km.

Do I need internet?

Yes, a connection is needed to check a crop and to see nearby outbreaks. Photos are compressed first, so it works on slower mobile data.

Which crops does it cover?

It is built for common field and garden crops such as maize, cassava and tomato. Type the crop name when you scan to help the result.
